Veronica Currie, National Volunteer Manager

I became a member when my husband, Wullie, died suddenly at home, in Scotland, aged 41. My children were 10 and 12 at the time and are now young adults.
I am incredibly honoured to be a part of the WAY staff team and have been the National Volunteer Manager since 2019.
"I love working with WAY volunteers who selflessly give their time to support members and the charity, as these are the very people who make WAY the lifeline that it is."
WAY volunteers demonstrate the power of peer to peer support in everything they do.
Since joining WAY in 2016, I have been an active member, attending various events around the country where I have made strong connections with others. I greatly value the support that the charity offers to its widowed community and find it incredible to watch members support each other during their darkest moments and celebrate life's wins together. It is a privilege to be a part of this community, that nobody wants to be eligible for, yet are so glad they found.
I’m so passionate about what WAY does and the chance to be part of the staff team was an opportunity that was too good to miss. It allows me to give back and support the charity that’s supported me and my family.
When I’m not working I love to be outdoors. Nature and walking have now become my go to coping strategies and they take up most of my spare time.

If you are interested in finding out more about how you can volunteer for the charity in one or more of the various volunteering roles available, Veronica would be very happy to hear from you. If you are a current member, please do get in touch by emailing veronica.currie@
