Over the course of one weekend, the 16-year-old daughter one of our members raised funds for WAY with her friend Alice by taking part in a Wide Awake Challenge. Roisin told us WAY helped her family a lot when her dad died & she wanted to help other families too.
WAY member Ed was planning to raise funds for WAY by walking more than 300 miles this year. But while in lockdown, he decided to do something crazy and shave all his hair off instead...
WAY's National Volunteer Manager Veronica climbed the equivalent height of Mount Snowdon (723m) which was over 300 flights of her home staircase to raise funds for WAY!
WAY member Charles took to his staircase at home to raise funds for our charity! He decided to conquer the three-peak challenge at home over 3 days - starting with Ben Nevis, Snowdon today and finally Scafell Pike.
Neil and his boys took part in the 2.6 challenge by running, doing press ups and sits up, holding 2.6 minute planks (ouch!), doing 26 keepie uppies and scoring 26 with two darts! Neil told us: "We've had lots of fun and managed to raise a bit of money for a great cause. Thanks to everyone who has donated or sent a supportive message - much appreciated!"
WAY member Lisa cycled 26 miles this weekend - raising £360 for WAY. She said: "It was lovely to get out for some exercise and fresh air in my local area, which has stunning scenery. Most important though was to raise funds for WAY - a charity that has done and meant so much to me for the last year since losing my wife, Rosie."
Ben's Mum is a WAY member, he decided to take on the 2.6 challenge for WAY and run 26 minutes round the garden everyday for an entire week. He told us "My Auntie Susan was going to run the London marathon and raise money for WAY but it’s been postponed so I thought I’d do a bit this week instead"
WAY member Araminta asked for donations to WAY instead of birthday presents and raised more than £100 to help us reach out to other young widowed people. Araminta said: "I chose WAY for my birthday fundraiser this year as the past 2 years have been very difficult. WAY have helped me so much. I have met some lovely members and feel part of the WAY family. It's a really easy way to fundraise in the current situation we are all in."
