Widowed within the Cultural and Ethnic Diverse communities
As an organisation, WAY strives to be fully inclusive. WAY’s members come from a very wide range of diverse backgrounds and part of WAY’s Strategic Plan is to ensure that the charity is able to fully support those members and make sure that those considering joining WAY’s community know that they are welcome.
WAY members know that bereavement and grieving is a very personal and unique experience, however different cultures and ethnicities may have common themes, rituals and expectations.
WAY has a Cultural Diversity Working Group which brings members and volunteers together with staff and trustees to discuss how to celebrate and support its community’s diversity. Some of the group’s members have shared their stories below and as part of Black History Month.
Read on to learn more about what WAY can bring, to help you in what is the most difficult of times.
