Big Picnic Weekend 2022
May 2022
Big Picnic success!
What a weekend! From Scotland to South Wales and from Sussex to the Serpentine, more than 400 members and supporters across the UK helped to raise awareness on WAY’s Big Picnic weekend at more than 30 picnic locations across the UK.
It’s the first time the Big Picnic has been able to take place in person since 2019 and it was a fantastic opportunity for members to meet up with old friends WAY and to kindle new friendships too.
One of our volunteers in Scotland, Kirsty, summed up the Big Picnic weekend with these lovely words:
“What a great day we had at our BIG Picnic yesterday! 43 people, a few furry friends and a few of those members travelled from other areas of the UK to join us. We had some long-term members, some very new members and some members in between those extremes. We are all at different stages in our grief yet the support and
understanding was there in abundance. We had some tears, a LOT of laughs and hopefully some new friendships have started to form.
Big Picnic sums up what WAY is about and to be part of it an absolute privilege. Something great to come from something so horrific. A huge well done to everyone who has attended a picnic this weekend, particularly those who are very early on in their grief. Not easy to do but hopefully something you can be proud of and
something which can help you start to build a network of support round you.”
If you are in the West Midlands or North Wales areas, please check out the WAY website events section for details of three further picnics being held on the 28/29 May!
Your donations are always welcome.
