Masterserve Foundation donates £2k to WAY

January 2021

We are delighted to have received a donation of more than £2,000 from the Masterserve Foundation, which is made up of the garages on the ARI Fleet Management network. One of their employees, Lee Palmer, put WAY forward in recognition of the support his friend Becky Marshall has received from our charity.

“This all came about because I re-shared a post from WAY to my Instagram stories and said what a lifeline WAY has been for me and how much WAY has helped me,” explained Wiltshire WAY member Becky, whose husband Paul died last August of an undiagnosed heart condition at the age of 41. Becky wanted to make sure anyone who knew someone else in her situation was aware of WAY.

“Little did I know that Lee saw my post and put WAY forward for a donation via the foundation he is part of,” said Becky. “I had no idea he had done this and was absolutely astounded and touched when Lee messaged me to tell me that the foundation had made the donation. I cried because his act was so thoughtful and kind, I’m just so pleased that WAY has benefitted.”

Becky explained that Lee knew her husband Paul as they were at junior school together, and as adults they lived opposite each other for several years.

“Paul loved life and lived it to the full,” said Becky, who was married to Paul for 17 years. “His personality was infectious – he was funny and quick witted, and was liked and loved by many who met him. Paul had a heart of gold. He is deeply missed by myself – all his family and friends.”

The donation from the Masterserve Foundation has meant the world to Becky – and to WAY.

“I’m so thankful to Lee for his nomination, to the Masterserve Foundation for their generous donation, and to the WAY community for their support these past months,” said Becky. “Grief and life as a widow is really hard, some days more so than others. To know you’re walking alongside others who are going through the same painful journey as you, somehow just makes it that little bit more bearable.”
