WAY is pleased to continue our full circle partnership with newly merged Child Bereavement UK

May 2026

Our partner, Winston’s Wish and another leading child bereavement charity Child Bereavement UK have recently come together to ensure no bereaved child, young person or parent bereaved of a child faces grief alone. They are now one unified charity: Child Bereavement UK.

WAY Widowed and Young is pleased to continue our partnership with the newly merged Child Bereavement UK to continue to provide full circle support for the whole family following a bereavement.

“We are delighted to maintain our strong partnership with the newly merged charity as we work together to deliver comprehensive support for bereaved families,” said WAY’s Chief Executive Stephanie Patrick. “I was incredibly pleased to meet with their CEO, Fergus Crow, recently to discuss our shared vision, and I look forward to sharing further updates with our members and supporters soon.”

Bringing together decades of experience

Child Bereavement UK supports bereaved children and young people (up to the age of 25), and parents grieving the death of a baby or child, to find hope. Through free expert guidance, practical resources, and compassionate support, they help people rebuild their lives.

They have brought together decades of expertise, experience and compassion, strengthening their ability to reach and support more bereaved children, young people and grieving parents than ever before.

Together they will:

  • Provide tailored, expert support at every stage of grief
  • Ensure help is accessible, without barriers or delay
  • Amplify the voices of bereaved people and advocate for better care and experiences
  • Equip professionals with the skills and confidence to support others

“By bringing Winston’s Wish and Child Bereavement UK together, we are combining our strengths so we can reach more grieving families and help people find hope as they rebuild their lives,” said Fergus Crow, CEO of Child Bereavement UK, and formerly CEO of Winston’s Wish.

What support do Child Bereavement UK offer?

As a newly merged organisation, Child Bereavement UK has introduced a service model grounded in clinical evidence and best practice, enabling them to respond more effectively to the complex and varied needs of those they support.

Their online and place-based services offer different levels of support, tailored to each individual. From free information and resources, to immediate access to bereavement specialists with no waiting list, through to structured, ongoing support for those who need more in-depth help – they ensure everyone can access clinically grounded, evidence-based care at the right level.

While some of their services may look and feel different, these changes are designed to make support more accessible, more consistent, and available when they’re needed.

“What has not changed is the heart of who we are,” says a spokesperson for the charity. “The compassion, warmth and commitment that have always defined both organisations remain at the centre of everything we do. We continue to stand alongside every bereaved child, young person and parent bereaved of a child with the same care, understanding and dedication.”
