In the UK around 23,000 people between the ages of 19 and 50 die every year, leaving thousands of young widowed people, many pregnant or with children. Losing a life partner is one of the most traumatic things that can happen to anyone. Thrown into a single life, sometimes with no warning, can cause trauma, depression, financial difficulties, loss of friendship and support, loneliness and isolation and serious mental health issues.

WAY is the only UK charity that offers support to this group.

WAY provides a safe space for young widowed people to connect with each other online through our member only website and organising face-to-face events both locally and nationally, as well as providing a telephone support line with counselling, financial and legal advice. WAY also campaigns for the rights of young widowed people through our campaign work - recently helping to extend bereavement support payments to unmarried cohabiting couples with
