Volunteers’ Week: Celebrating WAY’s incredible volunteers

June 2025

Monday, 2 June marks the start of Volunteers’ Week – a perfect opportunity for us to say a HUGE THANK YOU to each and every one of our wonderful volunteers, who make our charity  the incredible support network that it is for young widowed people across the UK.

We have a network of more than 180 volunteers from Scotland to Cornwall and from Norfolk to Belfast, who are helping our members find the support they need, arrange meet ups, steer the direction of the charity and help WAY reach more people who have been widowed at a young age.

As our National Volunteer Manager Veronica Currie said:

“Volunteers’ Week is my chance to publicly thank WAY’s volunteering community – past, present and future! WAY was built on volunteering and for many years, as the charity grew, it was run solely by volunteers. Almost all of WAY’s volunteers are members themselves, juggling their own grief and life commitments, yet still stepping forward to support others. WAY simply would not be the charity it is without volunteers and members stepping forward to demonstrate the power of peer support.”

So, from all of us at WAY – thank you to all of our volunteers for everything they do!
