WAY's November Fundraising Update

November 2023

Without the support of our incredible fundraisers, it would be impossible to continue the work and support that WAY offers to those who have been widowed young. We are incredibly grateful to every single one of you who has taken on a challenge or donated to WAY this year.

WAY member Natalie raised more than £350 by jumping out of a plane in October. She told us what happened on the day of the skydive:

“As we nervously awaited the arrival of storm Ciaran, the build up brought severe rain and winds to the UK and we were convinced that the planned skydive to raise funds for WAY would be postponed.

However, Sunday, 29 October turned out to be a ‘rose between two thorns’ as glorious sunshine and blue skies broke across Lincolnshire.

As me and my friends headed down to the skydiving site, I felt sure my late partner Jason played his part in making sure the weather was perfect and that it would go ahead.

I jumped at 2pm on the day with my instructor Brad and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of jumping in a 15,000 ft skydive, as well as raising £355 for WAY. I hope this helps support others when needed.”

Support WAY this Christmas

At WAY we have noticed a steep increase in the number of members or potential members needing support from our Memorial Fund to help pay the £25 fee to join our charity.

Our Christmas fundraising campaign is all about the Memorial Fund and boosting reserves so that no one has to go without WAY membership because of financial difficulties.

Please consider taking part in our Christmas Campaign to help raise these vital funds. Or if you prefer, you can give directly to the JustGiving campaign page - with every multiple of £25 giving the gift of WAY membership to someone who is struggling financially at this challenging time.

There are lots of ways that you can support WAY and help us to provide more support to those who have been widowed young.

Here are just some of the ways you can help:

Looking for Christmas gifts or cards with a difference?

"WAY is a charity that no one wants to be a member of, but so many are glad that they have found because there is a whole community of people who understand what you are going through.

An annual WAY membership costs the charity £60 so every penny raised goes directly to make up the shortfall between this and the £25 fee paid each year by members.

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us to raise funds through these difficult economic times. "- WAY CEO, Stephanie Patrick
