Famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable on-route entertainment and warm Geordie welcome, not to mention the millions raised each year for worthy causes, Great North Run magic can be hard to understand – until you’ve experienced it for yourself on the Newcastle to South Shields route.
Could 2025 be your year?
The run will take place on 7 September 2025, but the ballot for 2025 entries has now closed. But places are still available in the 5k event on 5 September which is the 'curtain-raiser' for the GNR 2025 weekend.

Great Run has many events of different distances now on their calendar so you could look at Manchester or Birmingham, Bristol or either the Great Scottish or the Great South Run - so many options to get your trainers on!
